A Contra Costa judge on Friday ruled that a 60-year-old Richmond man was legally insane when he fatally stabbed his 19-month-old adopted son with a steak knife in 2004 while little "C.J." slept.
Charles McEntire Jr. has remained at County Jail in Martinez since the stabbing on Nov. 22, 2004, though he has spent several recent weeks hospitalized with a kidney ailment. He appeared in court Friday morning in a wheelchair, speaking few words.
