A hearing is scheduled today to discuss whether a Cedarville couple should go on trial for the bleach-related death of their 6-year-old adopted daughter.

Kathleen and Timothy Carroll were both charged with involuntary manslaughter after Hannah Carroll died Sept. 21, three days after ingesting household bleach. The hearing, to decide what comes next in the case, will be held before Greene County Juvenile Court Judge Robert A. Hagler. The case had been set for trial today.

Three other Carroll children died within three months after Hannah's death, prompting officials to remove the remaining five children from the couple's home in December. The family was reunited just before Christmas.

Attorneys and others argued that the deaths of Chloe, 3 weeks; Noah, 3; and Mollie, 3, resulted from their handicaps. Prosecutors said they worried that the children died because they were left unattended for long periods or were neglected in other ways.

The Carrolls, who have no natural children, adopted 10 children. Seven had physical or mental handicaps.
