Gold-rush in California!

neophyte's picture

I see California is now listed as a gay-marriage friendly state, a band wagon each (MARRIED) presidential candidate sees as "acceptable".  My, oh my, when does the selling of something ever quit?

Gay marriage is an issue on which the three major presidential candidates — John McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton — are pretty much in agreement. All oppose it, while saying at the same time that same-sex couples should generally be entitled to the legal protections afforded married couples. All think the decision should be left to the states.

Sure, "leave it there, the cat'll get it"

Of course, after McGreevey's most recent show in divorce-court  http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/topstories/index.ssf/2008/05/mcgreeveys_lawyer_asks_whats_t.html

it's no wonder why some politicians would want this new document out and done with!  What cracks me up is how stupid the average person must be (either that, or memory sure ain't what it used to be) because what adult  going down the aisle doesn't know with marriage, a couple will get certain financial perks and health benefits, and with divorce, everything will be cut in half?  Fees, fees, what state doesn't want to accrue MORE fees for itself so the politicians can live better?  What poor bastard doesn't want to save or keep a few bucks in his own pocket?

So what will it take for adoptee-rights to start making big headlines and prime-time news specials?  The orgs are there, http://www.adopteerights.org/ , but does anyone other than deeply affected adoptees care about a person's past family?  OH!  I get it, it's all about exposing frauds and fakes, isn't it?  How many of those would be crawling into their well-made woodwork or hiding under their fancy rich carpets?  I can't think of any politician who would wants a sealed record open to the public!  I could be wrong, though.

Anyone know of a gay politician who was also adopted, and lived a secret life of closet prostitution?  Maybe THAT'S what we need to get some balls moving in our freaking favor!  Just imagine how good those pictures would look if a gay son stood with both his mothers and fathers and his newly married male lover and said "Adoptees have been searching far too long for closure!"  (may "Stand by our man" be an inspiration for those willing to fight.  http://nortonbooks.typepad.com/everydaysociology/2008/04/stand-by-our-ma.html )

What are the chances of that ever happening?  Slim to none?

Rights comparisons

I forgot to mention the biggest difference between the right to marry, and the right for support and protection.

It may be argued that adults should have the right to choose who they screw.  http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/conlaw/gayrights.htm

But no child should ever get f-cked by adults who claim to know the term "limitations".  http://www.amnestyusa.org/our-priorities/children/page.do?id=1011016&n1=3&n2=78

Has anyone seen my damn bottle?

Rights v. Wrongs

I think it's much easier to expose the wrong-doing that takes placed between two adults than it does against a child.

Maybe that's why politicians don't want to dig too deep into Adoption Rights... exposure of the levels of corruption (we know to exist) could be deadly to too many enjoying the fruits of their laboring lobby-parties.  After all, who wants to close the doors to a scam that has been functioning well for over 50 years?  [See the Historical Overview of Adoption to see how politics feeds placement opportunities:  http://poundpuplegacy.org/node/18652 ]
