My rowling pot has been put to simmer, so as not to be watched too closely.
I don't want to jinx myself, but I have a confession: last week I made a gutsy move even by my standards. I wrote to an author/publishing house. OK, that's not the big whoop-do-who-news. I've been doing that a lot this past year, but none have been as big as Mrs. HP Herself.
Am I an avid fan of the Harry Potter and his apothecary secrets? nope. I know very little of the series, to be honest. In fact, all I know about the books and stories is it's about a bunch of kids placed in a boarding school, and all sorts of horrible battles take place. Fact or fiction, flash and fantasy... been there, done that, who needs to pay money to see it on a big screen? Not me.
I'm interested in Ms. Rowling because I understand she's very interested in children's issues. That interests me, very much, as well.... so I wrote the woman to tell her about our little website, asking if she'd pay us a brief visit.
I have yet to hear a response, but given the latest press release:
I'm wondering, how far-fetched my master-plan is by wishing to gain the interest of a major player in the publishing industry? Am I off my rocker to think big-time names will want to read and see PPL's message that there is indeed a Dark Side to Adoption, and child placement? I would hope it has just been a matter of timing, and now all the stars have lined themselves in a way that the time is right to fight for the rights of safe placement for all children, everywhere.
Hey, miracles happen every day... don't they? Who's to say 2008 can't be a kick-ass year for us yelping mutts wanting to scratch the surface of child trafficking?
